The clients wanted us to tackle their unkempt garden and create an outdoor extension to their house where they could relax surrounded by vibrant planting.
Steps lead up from the terrace to a circular seating area in the sunniest part of the garden. The low retaining wall either side of the steps and the edging around the paving are of a brick that matches the house wall thereby creating a visual link between the house and the garden. A path leads under a pergola to a shady storage area screened by trellis which prevents the garden from being viewed in one glance and increases its apparent size. Climbers and sizeable shrubs will grow to conceal the boundaries, also creating an illusion of greater space.
